Meet Prudence

Prudence is a 1980 Cal 2-27 that we purchased on June 21 2011. For a sailboat that's over 30 yrs old she looks pretty nice. She has clean topsides and a clean cabin. Prudence has apparently been through many different owners so there's been some interesting and unknown work done to her but overall she looks great and appears to be safe and well equipped. Her previous owner purchased new sail covers and all new cockpit and cabin cushions making her look like she's only 20 something.
We have been dreaming of owning a larger sailboat that we could eventually take for longer sails and weekend adventures in Catalina. We think that we will enjoy this lifestyle and have accepted the costs and traded in other vacations for this new "thing". This dream to sail far off has been a dream for a long time but is it realistic for us? We thought that this boat would be a great test. A test of our patience and to see if it's possible to relax with an infant on board, if the dolphins keep our 4 yr old as entertained as simply watching the telltales does for the captain. If the first mate has time between being the life support and lifeguard of the lil ones and learning to feel comfortable as the boat heels and takes us from sight of land. Who knows. Not us. That's why we got Prudence.
